Alan has been teaching ballroom and latin dance for thirty five years and the school has been open for just over thirty. Many years ago he trained in modern jazz and tap and since then has also competed in professional latin competitions. He has been teaching freestyle since the days of Saturday Night Fever and Grease. He has had many students become champions in their respective categories, in all styles of dance.

Alan holds numerous qualifications in latin, ballroom, freestyle, and rock n roll, with associations including the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA); and he is also a qualified NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) Assessor in Sport and Recreation. He is also a qualified FitKid Coach.

Alan has recently been voted onto the Southern Area Ballroom and Freestyle Branch Committee where he is looking forward to helping organize competitions and events.

He is a family man with a wife Valerie (who helps with costumes), two daughters Sandra and Nichola, a son Terry and granddaughters Lainey, Megan and Ella.
