MELANIE SMITH Associate Latin IDTA

Mel has been dancing since the age of six years old - when she trained with Deborah Capon School of Dance in Whitstable. She performed in modern dance at shows in the Whitstable Playhouse up to the age of 14 years.

At 14 Mel started training in Karate and is now a black belt. She missed her dancing and decided to start to train in freestyle and rock n roll with EKDA. She competed in many competitions with her sister. Mel also took a GCSE in dance at school.

Mel moved into the latin and ballroom style and quickly started competing with her partner Karen. In exams Mel always gained highly commended and honours. Mel was then asked if she would like to become a teacher. She has now passed her Associate teachers exam in Latin-american dance and is now training for the Ballroom exam.
